Vaultcast

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 26 July 2026

Vaultcast is a Chrome extension that records your screen (a full display, an application window, a browser tab, or a dragged region) and saves each recording to your own Google Drive. This policy explains exactly what data Vaultcast handles and what it does not.

The short version: Your recordings go only to your own Google Drive, or stay on your device if you choose “Local only.” Vaultcast has no server of its own. We never receive, store, see, sell, or share your recordings or any personal data. There is no analytics and no tracking.

What Vaultcast does with your data

Google Drive access (drive.file scope)

Vaultcast requests only the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file scope. This is a per-file scope: Vaultcast can only see and manage the files it creates in your Drive. It cannot read, list, or access any other files in your Google Drive.

Limited Use disclosure

Vaultcast’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data obtained from Google APIs is used solely to provide the recording-to-Drive feature, is never transferred to the developer or any third party, and is never used for advertising, tracking, or creditworthiness purposes.

Data we do NOT collect

Vaultcast does not collect or transmit to the developer any personally identifiable information, authentication credentials, financial information, health information, personal communications, location, or browsing history. It does not read the content of the web pages you visit. There is no analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking of any kind.

Data sharing

We do not sell or transfer your data to third parties. Your recordings are sent only to your own Google Drive, at your direction. Sharing a recording afterwards is entirely under your control through Google Drive.

Data retention and deletion

Local copies of recordings are stored on your device until you delete them from the Vaultcast dashboard or clear the extension’s data. Recordings uploaded to your Google Drive remain there until you delete them in Google Drive. Because the developer never holds your data, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our side.

Permissions

Vaultcast requests only the permissions needed to record your screen and upload to your Drive: offscreen, identity, storage, desktopCapture, tabCapture, tabs, scripting, activeTab, alarms, downloads, and host access to https://www.googleapis.com/* for the Google Drive API. None of these are used to monitor your browsing.

Children

Vaultcast is a general-purpose tool and is not directed to children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the extension evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “Last updated” date.
